Methodology and Data Sources

Data sources

  • Betfair Exchange: prices and matched volume.
  • Pinnacle: prices.
  • Other bookmakers (Best odds, Premium): Bet365, 1xBet, Betway, 10bet, Bwin, William Hill, Unibet, Betfred, BetVictor, Marathon, 888sport, Betsson, 3ET.

A displayed price is not a promise that you can bet at that price or for any amount.

Dropping Odds — rolling 24 hours

We compare the current price with the price 24 hours earlier. The reference moves forward with time.

If a market opened less than 24 hours ago, we compare with its opening price and show "opened Xh ago" under the match. If our own record of a market is shorter than 24 hours for another reason (for example after a restart of our data recorder), we compare with the first price we recorded and show "compared with HH:MM" instead.

Drop % = (reference price − current price) ÷ reference price × 100

Example: 2.00 → 1.80 is a 10% drop.

The arrow shows the direction of the 24-hour move. Price rises are shown with ▲ and are not counted as drops.

Last 2h (optional): the move in the last 2 hours. A white tag means a fall of 3% or more in those 2 hours.

Biggest 24h drop (1X2 only)

Shows the selection (1 or 2) whose price fell most, with the size of the drop, e.g. "Biggest 24h drop: 1 (−12.4%)". It uses the same 24-hour reference as the row and is shown when:

  • the favourite's price falls more than 10%, or
  • a price between 2.50 and 6.00 falls more than 12%.

The draw is not marked. It shows an observed price movement. It is not a prediction and does not suggest a bet.

Money Way

For each selection we show:

  • Money share: the selection's share of the total money matched on Betfair in that market.
  • Difference from the odds: money share minus the share implied by the prices with the bookmaker margin removed ((1 ÷ price) ÷ the sum of 1 ÷ price over all outcomes), in percentage points (pp). pp = percentage points: we subtract one percentage from another, so the result is not a % change.

Example: if the prices imply 50% for a selection once the margin is removed and its money share is 60%, the figure is +10 pp.

Volume Index (VI) and alerts

  • VI = ((money matched now ÷ reference) − 1) ÷ 4 × 100. The reference is the matched money recorded 12 hours before kick-off (later, if less than €5,000 had been matched by then). 0 = no new money since then, +25 = the money has doubled, +50 = tripled. VI is left empty when the reference is below €1,000 (Over/Under pages: €500, using the Over/Under 2.5 money).
  • Volume spike: matched money on one 1X2 selection grew by at least €15,000 and by at least 15% of the match's total 1X2 money, between two 5-minute snapshots about 10–15 minutes apart.
  • Trading alert: the same, when it happens more than 30 minutes before kick-off.
  • Fresh drop: the biggest fall of 3% or more among the price changes of the last 5 minutes.

Free visitors see alerts 30 minutes late. Alerts describe what the market did; they are not a prediction and do not suggest a bet.

Betfair vs Pinnacle

  • Betfair after commission: 1 + (price − 1) × (1 − commission). Default commission 5% — change it to match your account. Example: 2.00 at 5% → 1.95.
  • Pinnacle: the offered price by default. Optional no-vig: price × (sum of 1 ÷ price of all outcomes) — a proportional method. No-vig prices are estimates, not prices you can bet.
  • Difference % = (Betfair after commission ÷ Pinnacle price − 1) × 100. Min difference uses the same figure.
  • Colours: blue when Betfair is higher; the threshold grows with the price (below 2.50: 3/5/8%; 2.50–4.00: 5/8/12%; above 4.00: 8/12/18%). Yellow when Pinnacle's offered price is equal to or above Betfair's.
  • Price ranges: only prices in set ranges are compared, checked on Pinnacle's offered price: 1, 2, Under and Over 1.30–2.60; X 3.10–3.80. This keeps the table focused. It does not mean these outcomes are safer.

Latest Movements

Each row is one price change. We compare the new price with the price just before that change. The window (15 minutes, 1 hour, 6 hours) shows the changes made in that period, newest first.

Free: Betfair only, changes of 5% or more, a 60-minute window, 30 minutes late. Premium: Betfair and Pinnacle, your own minimum change, without the Free plan’s extra 30-minute delay — Betfair prices update about every minute and Pinnacle prices about every 3 minutes; the page refreshes itself every 30 seconds.

Best available odds

The highest price among the bookmakers you selected. Shown only when it is at least 3% above Pinnacle's no-vig price or Betfair's price after your Betfair commission (5% by default — the same setting as in Betfair vs Pinnacle); otherwise "—". Above 12% it is marked "Check", because such a gap is unusual and the data should be verified.

Limits

Outages, suspended markets, low liquidity and different settlement rules can affect the figures. Always check the time and the price at the source. Found an error? Email info@bet-mate.co with the match, market and time.
