Glossary

  • 1X2: home win (1), draw (X), away win (2).
  • Under / Over 2.5: fewer than 3 goals / 3 or more goals.
  • Decimal odds: what a winning stake returns, including the stake. At 2.00, EUR 10 returns EUR 20.
  • Implied probability: 100 ÷ odds. A probability derived from the displayed price, not an independently verified forecast.
  • Drop: a fall in the price compared with the reference price.
  • Rolling 24 hours: a period that moves forward with time.
  • Opening price: the first price of the market at the source.
  • Matched volume (VOL): money already matched on Betfair in that market. Not the money available now.
  • VI (Volume Index): compares the money matched now with a reference taken about 12 hours before kick-off: ((matched now ÷ reference) − 1) ÷ 4 × 100. 0 = no new money, +25 = doubled, +50 = tripled. Empty when the reference is below €1,000 (Over/Under: €500).
  • Volume spike: at least €15,000 and at least 15% of the match's 1X2 money arriving on one selection within about 10–15 minutes.
  • Trading alert: a volume spike more than 30 minutes before kick-off.
  • Fresh drop: a price that fell 3% or more within the last 5 minutes.
  • Liquidity: money available at a price right now.
  • Money Way: the share of Betfair money on each selection compared with the price.
  • Commission: the fee Betfair charges on winnings.
  • Margin (overround): how much the bookmaker's implied probabilities add up to above 100%.
  • No-vig: a price with the bookmaker's margin removed by calculation. Not an offered price.
  • Biggest 24h drop: the selection whose price fell most against the 24-hour reference, using the rules in Methodology. An observed movement, not a prediction.
  • pp (percentage points): the difference between two percentages, e.g. 60% − 50% = 10 pp.
  • Best available odds: the highest price among the bookmakers you selected.
  • Hot Drops: sort that puts the biggest drops first.
  • Favorite (sort): matches ordered by the lower of the home and away prices, lowest first.
  • Suspended market: a market temporarily closed for betting.
