Cookies Policy

Last updated: 8 October 2026

Intro

We believe in being transparent with our users about how we collect and use their data. To find out more about this and about us as a data controller, you can read our Privacy Policy.

This Cookie Policy is aimed at making it clear for users of www.bet-mate.co (“you”) how, when and why we use cookies.

When you first visit Bet-Mate we show a cookie notice at the bottom of the page. It asks whether you accept analytics cookies (Google Analytics): nothing is loaded from Google unless you click Accept, and Reject is just as easy. Push notifications (match alerts) are also optional and off unless you turn them on. You can change both choices at any time from the Cookie settings link in the footer.

For information on how to delete or block cookies, please see the section How can I change my cookie settings? below. However, before you take any action with regard to cookies, we warmly advise you to read this policy.

It may be necessary to amend this Cookie Policy at times based on changing technical and business needs or to comply with legislative or regulatory requirements of EU data protection law. Essential modifications are those that affect your rights with regard to the protection and processing of your personal data, and may include, but are not limited to, the launch of new services, the deployment of new technologies and processing your data for new purposes. If we make essential modifications to this Cookie Policy, we will tell you through the website, or by other means, before they become effective. From time to time we may also make minor modifications, such as organisational and grammatical changes to make this policy easier to read; if you continue to use our services after we publish such an update, the updated Cookie Policy applies.

We encourage you to periodically review this page for the latest information on cookie use.

Which information can you find in this policy?

Our use of cookies

Any browser visiting our website will receive cookies from us. Essential and preference cookies are needed for the website to work and are set without asking. Analytics cookies are optional: they are set only if you click Accept in the cookie notice, and never if you click Reject. We do not set advertising or profiling cookies. How to change your choice is explained under How can I change my cookie settings? below.

The one exception is push notifications (match alerts) from OneSignal. They are optional, nothing from OneSignal is loaded unless you turn them on, and you can turn them off again whenever you like.

We use cookies on our website because we wish all of our users to have the best possible on-site experience. Information provided via cookies makes it possible to optimise your experience.

Cookies do not typically contain any information that personally identifies a user, but personal information that we store about you may be linked to the information stored in and obtained from cookies. In our Privacy Policy you can find out more about what personal data relating to our users is being processed.

About cookies

Cookies are small text files that are placed on your device by websites that you visit. They enable the website to remember your actions and preferences (such as login, language, time zone and other display preferences) over a period of time, so you don’t have to keep re-entering them whenever you come back to the site or browse from one page to another. The use of cookies helps you to navigate between pages efficiently, remembers your preferences and improves your browsing experience in other ways.

Other technologies, including data we store in your web browser (such as “local storage”), identifiers associated with your device and other software, are used for similar purposes. In this policy, we refer to all of these technologies as “cookies”.

Cookies can be classified by their lifespan, the domain to which they belong and the place where they are stored.

By lifespan, cookies are either:

  • session cookies, which are erased when you close the browser — session cookies only last for as long as the session (usually the current visit to a website or a browser session); or
  • persistent cookies, which remain on your computer/device for a pre-defined period of time (unless you delete them before the expiry date). Persistent cookies help us to remember your settings, so you don’t have to change them every time you return to our website.

As for the domain to which they belong, there are either:

  • first-party cookies, which are set by the web server of the visited page and share the same domain; or
  • third-party cookies, which are stored by a different domain to the visited page’s domain, or set by a script that the page loads from another provider (for example Google Analytics).

Taking into account where they are stored, there are:

  • browser cookies, which are sent by a website and stored in your browser, where only that browser can access them; and
  • browser storage (local storage and similar), which a website’s own scripts use to keep settings in your browser. It is not sent to our server with each request and stays until you clear it.

Which cookies do we use and what is their purpose?

We use the types of cookies explained above. A detailed description of our cookies, their functions and sources can be found below.

Essential cookies

Essential cookies are necessary for our website to work effectively. They make the website usable by enabling basic functions like page navigation, logging in and access to the members’ areas of the website, and they are used for security, for example to protect our forms against misuse.

On Bet-Mate these are the session cookie, which keeps you logged in while you browse and is deleted when you close your browser or log out, bm_analytics, which remembers whether you accepted or rejected analytics cookies, and bm_consent, which remembers your choice about match alerts. We advise you not to switch off these cookies. If you set your browser to block or alert you about these cookies, please be aware that after doing so you will not be able to log in and some parts of the website may not work.

Preference and functionality cookies

Preference cookies enable a website to remember information that changes the way the website behaves or looks, like your preferred language or the time zone you are in.

On Bet-Mate they remember your language (bm_lang) and your time zone so match times are shown in your local time (bm_tz). Your display settings — light/dark mode, league view, My leagues, bookmakers, Betfair commission, table filters, side panels and sounds — are kept in your browser’s storage under names starting with bet-mate-. If you are logged in, My leagues, bookmakers and Betfair commission are also saved to your account so they follow you to other devices; the rest stays on your device.

Analytics cookies (optional, only with your consent)

These cookies are optional. They are set only after you click Accept in the cookie notice; if you click Reject, or make no choice, nothing is loaded from Google. Analytics cookies help website owners to understand how visitors interact with websites by collecting and reporting information anonymously. They can process information about the number of visitors to the website, where visitors came from, the pages they visit, information about the browser and device, time spent on the website and the approximate location of the device used to access our website. We use this information to compile reports that help us to improve the website. The data we process with these cookies is presented to us in an aggregated and/or pseudonymised form.

We use Google Analytics 4 (cookies _ga and _ga_RN5C5RJE24), provided by Google, only with your consent. If you later reject analytics, we stop loading it and delete these cookies from our domain.

Third party cookies

Third parties may set cookies when you visit our website, because we have hired them to provide services on our behalf. Because your browser connects to their servers to retrieve their scripts, they are able to set or read their own cookies on your device. On Bet-Mate these are:

  • Google — Google Analytics, described above. Only if you click Accept.
  • OneSignal — browser push notifications for match alerts. Optional: nothing is loaded from OneSignal unless you turn on match alerts.
  • PayPal and Skrill — when you pay for a subscription you are sent to their own websites to complete the payment. Any cookies they use are set on their sites under their own cookie policies, not by Bet-Mate.

We do not show third-party advertising on Bet-Mate and we do not use advertising or profiling cookies.

How can I change my cookie settings?

You may at any time choose to disable some or all of the cookies. You have several ways to do so.

Turning match alerts on or off

Click Cookie settings in the footer of any page to open the cookie notice again. Choose Accept or Reject to change your analytics choice, and use Turn on match alerts or Turn off match alerts. When match alerts are off, nothing is loaded from OneSignal. To stop notifications you have already allowed, you can also block notifications for www.bet-mate.co in your browser’s site settings.

Opt-out from third party service we use

You can opt out from being tracked by the third party service provider we rely on, by following the instructions it provides:

Changing browser settings

The most used web browsers allow you to manage the majority of cookies through the browser’s settings. Keep in mind that if you limit the ability of websites to set cookies, you may worsen your overall user experience: on Bet-Mate, blocking or deleting cookies will log you out, and clearing site data will reset your settings (theme, leagues, bookmakers, filters and so on).

If you still do not want to receive cookies from our website, you can change the browser settings on the device you use to access our services. Below you can find links to the cookie management help for the most popular browsers:

For instructions on how to disable cookies in browsers that are not listed above, please consult the documentation that your browser manufacturer provides.

Flash cookies: Bet-Mate does not use Flash, so there are no Flash cookies to disable.
