Bet Mate operates bet-mate.co and is the controller of the personal data described here. You can reach us at info@bet-mate.co about anything on this page, including any of the rights set out in section 6.

1. What we collect

When you register we ask for an e-mail address, a user name and a password. You may also give a first and last name, a country, a phone number and a time zone; these are optional and the site works without them. Passwords are never stored in readable form — only a one-way hash of them.

When you sign in we record the time and the IP address the request came from. We do this to detect and slow down attempts to break into accounts, and for no other purpose.

If you subscribe, the payment itself is taken by PayPal or Skrill on their own pages. Card and bank details are entered there and never reach this site. We keep a record that a payment was made, its amount and the plan it relates to.

2. Why we use it, and on what basis

We use your account details to give you access to the site and to the leagues and tips your subscription covers, and to contact you about your account — activation, password resets and anything affecting your subscription. The legal basis is the contract between us.

We use sign-in records to keep accounts secure. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in preventing unauthorised access.

We use analytics on every visit to see how the site is used and to keep it working properly. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in running and improving the site, and you can object to it (see section 6). We use push notifications only if you have agreed to them; the legal basis for those is your consent, and you can withdraw it at any time (see section 4).

3. Who else handles your data

We use a small number of outside services, and each one only receives what it needs:

• PayPal and Skrill take subscription payments on their own pages.
• An e-mail delivery service sends account e-mails such as activation and password resets.
• MailerLite holds our mailing list and sends product and service updates. Every message carries an unsubscribe link, and unsubscribing removes you from the list.
• Google Analytics measures how the site is used. It runs on every visit and is not something you switch on or off here.
• OneSignal delivers browser notifications — only if you have accepted them and your browser has also asked you separately.

We do not sell your data, and we do not pass it to anyone else for their own marketing.

4. Cookies

Two cookies are always set because the site cannot work without them. One keeps you signed in for the length of your visit; the other remembers the cookie choice you made so we do not ask again on every page. Neither is used to track you and neither needs your permission.

Google Analytics also sets its own cookies and identifiers on every visit, and measures how the site is used. The cookie notice tells you about it rather than asking, so there is no setting for it here.

Push notifications are optional and nothing is loaded for them until you accept. If you accept, OneSignal is switched on and sets its own cookies and identifiers; if you decline, it is never requested at all.

You can change your mind about notifications whenever you like using the Cookie Settings link at the bottom of any page. Declining is exactly as easy as accepting, and we ask again after six months. Clearing your browser's site data for bet-mate.co also resets the choice.

5. How long we keep it

Account details are kept while your account exists. Sign-in and failed-sign-in records are kept only as long as they are useful for spotting attacks on accounts. Payment records are kept as long as we are required to keep them for accounting purposes. If you ask us to delete your account we remove your details except anything we are legally obliged to retain.

6. Your rights

You can ask us to show you the data we hold about you, to correct it if it is wrong, to delete it, to limit what we do with it, or to send it to you in a portable form. You can object to processing we carry out on the basis of legitimate interest, including analytics, and you can withdraw consent for notifications at any time without affecting anything done before you withdrew it.

You can edit most of your details yourself from your account page. For anything else, write to info@bet-mate.co and we will respond within one month. If you believe we have handled your data badly you are entitled to complain to the data protection authority in the country where you live.

7. Age

This site is not for anyone aged eighteen or under, and they may not register an account.

8. Changes to this policy

If we change how we handle your data we will update this page, and we will tell registered users directly about any change that materially affects them.
